Not starting! Cuts out!

Can anybody advise me!!
I have a F2 07 GS.
I've

It started a few months ago it kept cutting out no power no nothing just dead I'd leave it 2-3 minutes and it would start fine.

Then struggling to start I have had all the sensors changed crank, MAS, and a few others, then I thought I'd replace the battery all worked ok!

! This week car been struggling to start ! A tiny squirt of Sure and away I go!

Untill nothing ! So i had it towed to a garage with suspect fuel pump problems £45 diagnostic revielled nothing they had it started fine test drove it they said it was ok to go

, got home! Didn't start again so now I'm on the back of another pick up with the mechanic saying the same problem fuel pump

I will point out when that when the car is running it's running fine!

Has anybody had problems like this or had issues the same as me, as the first garage could not find anything at fault!

Had something like this on a Peugeot ZX diesel and it was glow plugs? When it starts do you get smoke from the exhaust? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Can you get it to some where with JLR Diagnostic tools?

It might be beneficial to measure some of the engine management signals on crank.

Many years ago I had a similar issue with a French car. Putting a jump lead between battery negative and the gearbox solved the problem of a failed battery negative lead which looked fine, measured out fine and the dealer never managed to solve. Might be worth a shot?

I have dropped it at the garage this morning to see if they can diagnose the problem,

Everything is working as it should on crank, but the engine is not getting any fuel, spoken to a independant specialist and apparently FL2 are renowned for having a filter on the bottom of the fuel pump that can perish! causing it to suck nothing in or little bits of air and fuel into system!

Which can cause cut outs and sluggish and non starting any body else heard of this?

I’ve been frequenting this forum for 8 years and this is the first time a filter failing on the fuel pump has been mentioned. The diesel filter, which is a service item, is prone to blocking if not changed at appropriate intervals and also needs to be primed and purged of air. There is also a pump in the fuel tank for transferring fuel around the tank but if this fails there are other symptoms.
I’d change the diesel filter on the engine under the plastic cover. If someone couldn’t be bothered to change it I think you get your symptoms.

This landy is well kept and has regular filter changes and oil changes and a full up to date service by LR,
I have however got the car back... £££s later they found the problem, a few wires leading from the ECU on the exhaust C02 SENSOR were frayed! Tripping out half the ECU which in turn created starting problems and cut outs, and also mis leading engine light fault readings

Fingers crossed it was just that I was dreading a new fuel pump!

The electrics and the cost of tracing electrical faults will be the death of most of us affording ownership in the long run. Sad FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
