1.5 litres difference between min & max on the diesel dipstick. Unless you do a long drain & then a double oil change I really don't see the point, diesel oil will go black very quickly.

If you’re bothered, get a can of engine flush from your local motor factors (or Halfords), use as directed, get the engine really hot and drain for as long as you can. I don’t usually bother with the flush at work but draining the oil is the first thing I do on a service (you can go round checking the lights, washers etc while the engine is warming) and filling with oil is the last thing I do - that gives you a clean oil on the dipstick, for a while anyway! Get to normal temp and remove / change oil filter every year / 12,000 miles and drain oil every 6 months / 6,000 miles. Use correct grade of quality oil and engine should go on for years to come with no need to flush. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Change the oil and filter regularly and the engine should last 250k+
