Asked about the resistor fix the other day when I called in at the main dealers for yet another replacement bulb. Despite the car being under (extended) warranty, they told me they no longer do it.

Danny, if I were you I'd send a pm on here to the customer service desk and see what they say Thumbs Up If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I might just do that but I'm a bit concerned about it making the light output even worse. As you know, changing the bulb effectively means removing the entire headlamp. I now carry a spare bulb, a 10mm ring spanner and a head torch in the car at all times. I've changed headlamp bulbs so often that I've got it down to 10 minutes now, even in the dark.

Lights are a safety feature! Why would you want to reduce light output even further? Personally with the darker mornings and darker nights up here your on drugs if you want to reduce your light output even further on an unlit road. HB3 bulbs are cheap to buy, carry a couple of spares in the car along with a 10mm spanner. It takes 5 minutes if that to remove the headlight, change the bulb and refit the headlight. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

HB3 bulbs ain't that cheap. Main dealer here wants around £18.50 but will give 10% discount (if you remember to ask).

Was that for two? I was quoting a dealer price of £18.50 for one!

So after supplying my VIN I received the following response:

I have looked into your query and unfortunately Technical Bulletin: LTB00841V2 does not cover the VIN range that your vehicle comes under, meaning that this fix is no longer applicable. I would advise that you contact your local retailer for further assistance on this matter.

Surprised as mine is a facelift 2014 car with Hb3 bulbs Rolling Eyes Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

I recently went into my main LR dealer and they confirmed that this mod was only available for about 18 months from 2016. They don't have any and so it's not available any more.

Q: can anyone on here with the mod see what it consists of and take pictures so that we might make something ourselves and fit it? MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic33444.htm...stor+wire. See this topic which might help. Also a quick search online for the part number (LR081691)brings up a few images. Its just a short length of resistor wire with a plug at either end.

I have learnt the hard way about poor headlamps, now I wouldn’t buy a car without HiDs (and make sure they have headlamp washers, low power HiDs don’t need them!), or LED headlamps of course (although I would need to try these at night before purchase), I put a lot of weight behind being able to see well at night while driving. Regards

David

Lovely i6 has now gone, but not me......

Please let me know if anything in my post offends you, as I may wish to offend you again......
