I had the lend of an Evoque HSE 6 months old for a few days while my FL2 was getting a little paint done. Beautifully finished and great driving car with a very smooth engine. However every time I got into I cracked my head on the door frame. I found it a little claustrophobic with the huge full length centre console and there’s not a great view out the rear screen. Don’t think I could be persuaded even if I could afford it. Was glad to get back into my FL2. |

I know exactly what you mean. That why I went from Freelander 2 to Disco 4 to L405 Fatty. They all share the same uncompromising huge doors and big square glasshouses. None of the fashion trinket stuff has any interest to me. |

my local LR dealers have lines of current Evoques and Disco Sports. Why ???? LR are trying to get rid of the 'old floor pans' in favour of the new /latest ......as used on the new Evoque 2 . . |

The new Subaru Forester coming in 2019 seems to be very much improved?

My daughter has just bought an ex demo 18 plate X3 m 2 l diesel. I must say it's a lot of car for just over £30k (£40 plus new). Havn't driven it but might be tempted when the time comes. It really makes my motor old fashioned. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I was talking to a Subaru salesman last week . He can’t get enough late model second hand diesel cars to meet demand . What is making things difficult is that typically a Subaru customer buys the car cash and changes at 7 year intervals , the last diesels leaving the showroom early last year . The whole customer experience with Subaru is great as the dealers are generally family owned and still small enough to value their reputation. They may not be the most exciting cars in the world , or cutting edge interior wise but after nearly 3 years of ownership it’s probably the most reliable vehicle I’ve owned or driven as a company motor . The only one that came near was my 1984 HiLux . 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles . Quite agree... Subaru dealers tend to be small, family-owned and locally-focussed outfits. And they sell great cars.

I drove BMWs for years as company cars . That company has the knack of making vehicles which just feel right to sit in . Everything falls to hand , and I thought they were great to drive . OK an X3 isn’t as off road biased as a Freel2 , but the way I look at it is it will probably do everything up to the point you would risk damaging a £40k car ! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership 2016 Subaru Outback SE 2.0 diesel SE Premium Lineartronic Sold 2024 after 8 years and 80k miles .
