Yes, remember many years ago out with my granny, she locked the keys inside her new Marina, called local police who turned up with a huge bunch of keys to try and sure enough one of them opened it! Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Having taken a hired car to a big agricultural show some years ago, it was only when I was back out in the car park that I realised that apart from being some sort of Toyota saloon, I didn’t really know what it looked like... Resorting to walking up and down the aisles, clicking the key fob, a shiny new Disco unlocked for me, nobody else about, so I locked it again and went on until I found the Toyota! 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Decades ago I had Toyota Camry company car. Before work I picked up the mail from the post box. Returning to the car I was looking at the various letters, hopped back into the car & started it. But something was not quite right, I looked around & could not work out what was going on until I caught a glance of my car in the mirror. I quickly got out locked it & got into my car! Where I worked four people had those dreadful Austin Allegros, all in BL vomit cream colour and they all parked next to each other in the car park. It was known as the Allegro row. One chap regularly got into the wrong car but the last straw came when one day he actually drove it home so the chap whose car it was had it resprayed in a different colour as the only way to stop the other chap (who was the boss) from getting into his car.

It doesn't always work. Once upon a time all the hire cars in Jersey were red Minis. I spent ages trying to get into what turned out to be the wrong one. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

Many years ago I was staying at my girlfriends house. Her Mum offered to give us a lift in their Ford Zephyr, (the one with a column gear change and a long bench seat in the front and in the back). We stood outside as she disappeared into the pitch black unlit garage and heard the car door open and then close. After a long pause there was a scream and we heard the car door open. Apparently she had felt around in the dark and opened the wrong door and got into the rear passenger seat so that she was fumbling about with the keys and couldn't find the steering wheel. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I was working away, staying at a hotel. I asked the desk to call a cab.
