I have just completed replacing the rear shockers on my 2009 fl2 An easy job once you work out the best way to do it . As I was reassembling the shockers into the wheel knuckle I noticed that if a spacer was fitted over the shocker between the wheel knuckle it would be possible to lift the vehicle up to 20mm . To test the amount of lift it would be possible release the knuckle clamp and slid it down enough to fit 2 flat spacers reclamp and put back on ground ,once you have the height you want get 4 round spacers machined and fit to shocker by releasing clamp release lower control arm , remove brake calliper and release brake hose and sensor wire from bracket open clamp with a cold chisel or some kind of wedge push knuckle off fit spacer and put back together .A little bit of grunting and swearing is also needed to remove the shocker and wheel knuckle the first time but once you get the hang of it it is easy .

What shocks did you fit Doug?

KYB excel ,definitely made a difference ,tightened up the suspension I did not realise how soft it had become . I am getting new tyres and a wheel alignment next week . If you replace them your self make sure you mark the alignment of the spring with the spacers and top cap as the top cap will only fit one way .

Do you happen to recall the part numbers you used Aussie?

Looking at the KYB website they list the same number for pre and post 2013 Freelander 2.

I just checked the numbers and that is the case , also the fitting of the spacers will only work on the rear the front is a slightly different set up I have not had it apart yet to see how it could be done . I have a series 2a that takes up all of my spare time and a bit more . The PNs are 335832 and 335831 .
