New Arrival

So I’ve finally took the plunge and picked up a new to me Freelander. Previously owned a 2004 model and always hoped to return again. The improvements are amazing although I do miss the rear tailgate window, when it wasn’t stuck.

The orange indicators have been replaced with crystal lenses and I have to admit there’s a towbar fitted.

I agree that the FL2 is a big improvement in on the FL1 however I often look at the FL1 and think that it still looks more like a "proper" 4x4. The rear opening window was really useful for transporting long items and especially useful for a rapid air change if you had flatulent teenagers in the back. Shocked 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

Massive improvement and I agree the FL1 looked more rugged, maybe I’m biased as i bought one in an ‘HST dress’
Not sure about flatulent teenagers but a chocolate Labrador gave similar interior odours 🤢

Just on that point, why doesn't the FL2 have a 'ski hatch' in the centre of the rear seat for carrying long stuff (and still being able to take 3 passengers) rather than having to fold the whole rear 3/4 seat-back section down ?
I've got a rear armrest and its only a flimsy plastic panel behind it, so it's certainly not a strength issue that prohibits one.
Could really do with one for carrying my paddles!

Confused FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

The question should be why is CG allowed all this width. Seriously can someone explain why this happened? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)
