Well the last time I bought two new tyres from Asda Tyres the fitter told me that he couldn't remove the NSF wheel as it had been overtightened so much that it needed a specialist tool to remove it, which he didn't have and therefore he had only changed the OSF tyre. I told him that the last person to touch the NSF wheel was .....................Asda Tyres! I even produced the email receipt on my phone. He said that the car must have had a brake service and the service technician must have done it and tried everything to deny Asda Tyres were to blame I showed him the receipt for my last brake service from the main dealer which was prior to the previous Asda Tyres purchase and told him I expected him to put right the damage that his colleague had caused and asked for the regional manager's email address as it was an Asda Tyres branded Portakabin on a superstore car park and was only staffed by one fitter, all the ordering and appointments being done online and nobody else to refer to. He went very quiet and then said that he'd recently replaced the guy who'd knackered my wheel nut and was dealing with his screw-ups on a daily basis. He told me to return the next day and he would bring his personal nut removal kit and he would get the damaged nut off. He was true to his word but it made me very wary of any of the big tyre groups. My original post was that Halfords had a good price and I wondered if it was worth trying to use Land Rover's tyre price promise to get the tyres at a good price and fitted by a reliable technician. I never intended to use Halfords as their online reviews are truly shocking. It appears that some forum members have experience that some Land Rover dealers don't even do tyres in house and farm them out so that put me off them too. I did ring Land Rover to ask for a price - Ā£172 per tyre! I asked about their price promise as per their website and the service dept seemed unaware of it and said that everything was at the service manager's discretion and they would check with him call me straight back. Not heard from them so clearly my business isn't wanted! Decided to ring my local family-run rural garage who I have bought tyres had repairs done for my Defender and Range Rover years ago and they can do me Land Rover branded Scorpion Verde All Seasons for Ā£125, so I'm going with those. Same tyre at Asda Tyres are Ā£137. As they are rural they do a lot of Land Rover work and I know I can trust them. I'm hoping that the Verdes will be as good as the Zeros. |

I also try to support the local independent tyre place . They are decent people , own and standby their business . They might be Ā£3 or Ā£4 dearer than buying on Black Circles , but if they were not there , weād be left to the vagueries of Quickfit and their ā Guaranteed ā Ā£25 tyre repairs , rather than a Ā£12 fix that you are happy to drive on . Iāll also be going there for the 6000 mile tyre rotation I do on the Scooby as it will be in Febuary and I will not be DIY - ing at that time of the year . As the FL2 will have itās 10th Birthday next year the main dealer is a place it hasnāt seen for a very long time .

When you bring up the TOPIx page for your car it will say at the top righthand corner "Outstanding campaigns". Then either "There are currently no outstanding Field Service Actions" or it will list the ones outstanding. Pastmaster, are you sure that includes software updates, rather than just statutory recalls?

Outstanding campaigns only displays recalls, not software updates. There is no automatic update carried out by LR dealers as all software is vehicle dependant and most software updates are to rectify issues, not as product improvements, and if a vehicle isnāt experiencing an issue, why would it need software updates, which may cause other issues |

I'm only going by experience on my DS, which has had a number of updates to do with the (many) built-in problems. These were all displayed in TOPIx. They aren't recalls as such, just updates that get applied whenever the car is at the dealers. As I think I wrote above, there are other software updates which are only needed in response to problems reported by the customer, and these will not be displayed.

Recalls are displayed in the outstanding campaigns section, these can be Safety Recalls OR product improvement campaigns. These are the only things listed. Product improvement campaigns can be updated software, change of components for improved reliability or sometimes just an inspection |

Past Master are you related to Mystic Meg? Today whilst checking for info on a DIsco 5, I found a new heading Software. In it was listed the Phase 4 update for incontrol touch pro. This may be optional software the customer can have installed to add new features. Itās not related to recalls or product improvement campaigns. PM whatās Saturdays lottery numbersš? |

I predict you will meet a tall dark Land Rover. This may be a time to take decisions...

Yes thatās just map updates which take an age to do, each map has to be downloaded at pdi and installed. The Software listed was the actual main software that runs the incontrol system. Which is not free, as it has to be installed by a dealer and takes hours to install and has to be done using either sdd or pathfinder diagnostic programs. |

This week I had the front tyres (Pirelli Scorpion Verde AS) replaced using Kwik-Fit Mobile. I have used Etyres and Tyres on the Drive before, my last experience with TOTD was slightly disappointing due to a lack of attention to detail and subsequent lack of response to my issue.
