turbo removal

How difficult to remove a turbo from a 07 plate FL2, 2.2 diesel in situ.?
Any special tools needed,?
Does placing the front wheels of ramps provide enough space & clearance.?
Does the front bumper need to be removed.?
Any advise from any forum members would be really appreciated.
Many thanks.

Get the manual from this topic www.freel2.com/forum/topic32299.html and start from there.
Look on how they remove the turbo and "improve" the method based on which conditions you have.

Thanks for that, Downloaded it.
As my FL is now in limp mode, after I renew the turbo myself, how can I get it back to normal operation? Can I do this myself, or does it have to be "plugged" in

You can clear some fault codes with a cheap plug in reader that connects to a Samsung phone but off fleabag you may have to wait a week for one to turn up.

I have one but does not give a full six figure read out only three but you can clear fault codes ( that will return if you don't fix the issue). FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Some limp mode faults will just go away after the problem is fixed. You will of course still be left with an historical fault code, so it is best to get a good scanner connected & clear any fault codes.

Your local independent would probably do it for not a lot, or find another member who is local & has the the gear.

ps I'd do it for free but the air fare might set you back a bit too much Rolling with laughter (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

noise

update.
Turbo removed, repaired & refitted. ( V Expensive). The exhaust turbine vanes were burnt away at the tips!.
Still has unusual howl type noise. The high pitched turbo whistle is there, but there is also a deeper sounding `howl`, certainly related to engine speed. No leaks on the boost side, ie no leaks from hoses or intercooler.
Very occassionaly it makes a very sharp, 'chuff' noise, each lasting about 1/2 second, about 5 -6 times. Best way to describe it is like a truck air system safety valve blowing off.
There also seems to be quite a significant turbo lag as well.
Struggling with this now, I will blank the EGR valve off, but not confident that will make any difference.

Any ideas and thoughts would be helpful.

Cheers

Nev, have you had ALL the hoses off to check for splits & pressure tested the intercooler, to confirm the above statement?
