Actually I already have two 26ah batteries under the passenger seat but needed a bit more capacity for the fridge. So I have filled in the space in the middle of the car. I will leave it out normally, but I can plug it in when needed. This space just ended up with bits and pieces while traveling that ended up wedged around water containers.

An electric motor on each wheel would be better with, fully independent suspension it almost unstoppable. Common sense isn't very common.

When the seats are out the battery box will be attached to the closest seat socket, same as the 2 brackets for the sand flag.
The batteries are gel. Pretty much everyone down under (except idiots) carry an auxiliary battery in the car whether towing a caravan or not for redundancy when going remote. It is only once you have been remote, 1000 km from anything worthwhile it starts to actually sink in that you need options. The 3 gel batteries have a 5 second maximum load of 780 amps or 280 amps for 5 minutes. My starter motor requires 238 amps. Also have an Anderson 175 amp (up to 280 amps with 1/0 awg) plug wired in to connect jumper leads. So with enough water & solar I have some options! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device! I would have used the rear foot wells but we needed to carry as much water as possible as there is no water where we go.

All your equipment and supplies brings it home that going off the beaten track "down under" has a totally different meaning compared to here.

This is a mobile coverage map of Australia. The light brown areas are with an external antenna. Even on the ring road (highway) around Australia you only get intermittent coverage as the transmission towers are too far apart. So if you need GPS get a proper one..... & a map!
