Yes, it was called "Operation Smash Hit" and I remember it well as I was there. I can confirm that the sandwiches Greenpeace referred to were not standard British Rail issue as they were fresh and edible. I can also confirm that the Greenpeace allegations were a load of old cobblers.

We went along the road here to Karijini NP a few months ago. Actually slept overnight in a gravel pit. While we were sleeping a 98 wheel road train took a break for a few hours. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I remember a train trip through the glacier national park top right of USA, looking down from train windows you could see a huge grain train that had derailed and fallen way down the hill/mountain side.

Apparently the park was closed as the bears where eating grain which fermented inside them, leading to drunkness and bears with a sore head, quite a dangerous thing.
