I tend not to get so hung about it . As I said out of all proportion . He didn’t kill anyone did he ? Punishment of ordinary people does very little except cause resentment . Education is a far better solution . there is a major difference from punishing someone for the result of something he has done and punishing someone heavily because his actions are deemed to be the new scourge of society. I also find it oafish for the police to brag about things on twitter or whatever it is

You could fine him a million pounds and you know what ? It wouldn’t make one jot of difference to the number of people using a mobile tomorrow . There are not enough real traffic plod about to make any change in the nations driving habits , so whilst a “ trophy “ fine might give a few Daily Mail readers a warm glow ....m

To be fair I don’t think it will as you say make that much difference to the buffoons who use their phones but it was his own fault.

There would not have been a court appearance. 6 points and a £200 fine and that’s the end of the matter. He was obviously refusing to accept it so being found guilty after trial has resulted in the larger fine and costs. I don’t read the Daily Fail but I’m pleased with the outcome and think he should be named and shamed on Twitter. Same applies to any court results in the papers.

As for education, it doesn’t work for god knows how many drivers who have a speed awareness course and carry on speeding anyway. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Couldn't agree more!

Most Australian don't drive at night in the outback to minimise the risk of hitting something. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Amazes me that these people actually exist. Why. Just why or what on earth would posses someone to do that!?

Absolutely infuriates me when I see someone using their phone. It is a simple disregard for the safety of everyone around them. If my children were ever injured by someone driving dangerously, their sentence would not be what they should be worrying about, let's put it that way.

I used to work for a law firm and was in a discussion with some of the staff and said that I never touch my phone whilst driving. They laughed and said that was rubbish, of course I did, everyone does and it's absolutely fine. Lost a lot of respect for those people. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

Down under you can't touch a mobile while driving, other than simply passing to a passenger to operate it.

If the mobile is mounted on the dash you can't touch it operating it as a GPS.

A GPS you can touch & handle it any which way you want.

You can use a CB radio in the hand & communicate any which way you want! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
