OOOPS!

Just made an alarming discovery today. Had a rear number plate made for a trailer and when walking back to my car noticed that they had made the number plate wrong. Whilst standing in line to complain I looked at my registration document and noticed that the reg document and my new plate were the same. It seems that when I bought the freelander Lookers at Bury St Edmonds had the wrong plates made - got a Y and a V mixed up....

Have spoken to a mate who is in plod and he says that I am liable if caught (although said if stopped they would proberly be understanding to situation). As I am an a upstanding member of society Confused he thinks the only problem I would have is by being picked up by an automated camera. Will obviously get this fixed ASAP - will be interesting to see what Lookers have to say - but not the one in Bury as they closed the week after selling me mine!

me too!

Exactly the same thing happened to me with my Mini Cooper. I'd been driving around for about a month before my lease company queried the reg no. I assumed they'd got it wrong, but as with you, it was an error by the supplying dealer. When I queried it, they immediately produced new plates and destroyed the original ones (and the evidence)!

I was told that my insurers coud easily have disowned the car had there been a claim; fortunately, there wasn't!
