Spain 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black
Tyre squeal, wheel slip.

I have a 2013 HSE left hand drive, Black with running boards and rear tints. I only use it in Europe, the N/S tyre squeals whenever I turn on a smooth surface, car park or the like, also when pulling away the N/S wheel seems to slip a little. Anyone any ideas what is happening. The tyres are on there last legs and I’m intending to change them just before my my next trip , Sardinia, Corsica,Italy, France back home to spain.

Tyres squealing on very smooth tarmac isn't unusual irrespective of the type/make of car.
Knackered tyres squealing on very smooth tarmac is even more likely.

Tyres squealing when you set off hard in a FL2 auto is unusual, could be just the tyres, could be you are now driving a 2 wheel drive car. Think front transfer box or Haldex. The front transfer box, or its splined drive can fail and you would be none the wiser - no error codes, right up to the point where you need four wheel drive, then you get stuck and look to all bystanders as a Censored .

Haldex has the same effect, but usually throws up error codes.

First things first change the tyres. Then go looking for expensive problems, for example if the front wheels are prevented from turning, you are in park and you can turn the propshaft could be the transfer box or coupling. If it's solid start looking at the Haldex. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
