Only 2 posts, the outgoing Freelander must have been a wonderfully reliable car! Hope the DS is as good. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

The Freelander 2 was exceptionally reliable and a great car to own. It took us on a number of trips from Scotland to Cornwall including a trip to France. It was my daily driver and never missed a beat. |

Agree with you that the DS is a most enjoyable car to drive. Assuming you have the diesel version you may find it needs a bit more tlc than the FL2. Forget the 21000 mile service interval - you will need at least one interim oil change, you will need to top up the adblue pretty regularly on a recent model, and there are more electronics to go wrong. Mine has never let me down, but I have had a couple of warning light issues. Currently the EGR unit is blocking up. Doesn't affect performance, but it's going to have to go in to the dealers for a (third) fix under warranty. If you are going off road, be aware that it's quite easy to ground the car. And if you didn't specify a spare wheel it can't be retrofitted. Mine takes up most of the boot space. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone

I guess folk who spend £35 -45k on a motor whether on loan, contract or cash have very high expectations and rightly so. Not sure what's happened with JLR quality control but my SiL had an F Pace for the weekend and it broke down once and the windows jammed open. He was not impressed. His uncle bought a DS in hse spec and returned it as not fit for purpose. Certainly has put me off the JLR brand and will probably be looking at a Volvo XC40 when the time comes . MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.
