1st time here.. so thanks in advance for any input and advice.
I am in the process of matriculating - importing - our Freelander 2 2009 GS model to Portugal where I am now living.
All vehicles go through a rigorous test so they comply with the Portuguese regs..
I've checked to see if our vehicle has the lever to change light direction - but couldn't find any lever on either light unit: they are on the light unit yes, and not somewhere in the engine bay?
So will I have to buy a new set of right hand drive lights? Or as some have appeared to say the lights are legal for european driving?
I have halogens, not LED.
Thanks again,
Carlos
Hi Carlos. Halogen lights do not have a lever (see above). If they have a small spot on the lens, they require beam deflectors. The spot denotes the centre point. If they don't have the spot, the lights are OK to drive in mainland Europe. BUT they still have a triangular pattern. When driving on the right the illumination is not good. I think it unlikely that they will be OK for a car registered in your country - you probably have to change them for a "continental" set, which will also have a triangular beam, but with the opposite angle. Somewhere on here I think there should be a photo of the beams on mine - they are clearly assymetrical. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
