Boot Won't Open - Car Won't Lock

Hi

57 Plate.

I can't open the boot. I've tried the boot handle, the key, various button combinations etc - nothing seems to want to release it.

But I can't lock it either, because apparently it thinks the boot is open!!

Any suggestions as to what is wrong and how to cure it would be gratefully received!

Thanks

Usually its just the boot handle switch but that normally will lock and unlock from the dash switch.

You could try a hard re-set as its a cost nothing item on a Sunday afternoon when the shops are closing. Or tap the release handle a few times (maybe not do anything but gets rid of a bit a pent up aggression Laughing ). FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

By hard reset, do you mean unplug the battery etc? Have to admit I haven't tried that.

I was expecting something to open the boot - either the key, or the dashboard etc - but at the moment nothing. If the hard reset doesn't work, is there a way to take something apart to replace the micro switches etc without being able to open the boot?! Or, is there some way to manually release the boot?

Thanks

Have you tried pressing the lock and unlock buttons on the dash at the same time?

possibly a foreign body stuck in the striker plate?
slammed the door shut with a boot full of camping gear, something got jammed, the door appeared to be locked but wouldn't allow the rest of the doors to lock. It would have been nice to get inside and shove against the door to open it, but a full height dog guard prevents you from doing that. Pulling VERY hard on the door handle would just have wrecked the handle, fortunately I had a ladder attached to the rear door and this allowed enough purchase to force the door open.

Give it a kick from the inside is my advice. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Have you checked the fuse. Ours would blow the fuse every few days, ended up replacing the switch. Mine, Saab convertible
Hers, MY08 GS auto

Thanks - sounds similar. Certainly no sign of the switch working, so almost certainly needs replacing.

Thanks - yes, tried that and nothing happened. But thanks for the suggestion.

Certainly worth trying!

Fuse seems to be OK, but I'll double check!

Thanks all - a few things to try!
