When mine shuts down, I can undo the seatbelt and get out and open the gates hop back in and push the clutch in for it to restart. The only time it has restarted when I was out of the car was on a hot day and the aircon was on. But I have not tried to get it to shut down before I unfastened the seatbelt or opened the door. |

The key is that it will only stop if the drivers seat belt is fastened. Once it has stopped it will allow you to undo the seatbelt and open the door. I do it frequently when putting mine into the garage. |

just picking up on this old post as I've only recently bought a Freelander 2, my stop start doesn't work, but I have the oil service light up - I'm assuming that this might hold it off as well. |

Glad to say my Sd4 doesn't have it. One less thing to go wrong. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
