United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e S Manual Stornoway Grey
Thinking of a return to a Freelander 2 - DPF query

Good afternoon.

Have had two Freelander 1's and a 2009 Freelander 2, but after a few years of toying with other inferior cars, I'm thinking of getting another Freelander 2. Need the practicality, 4x4, towing etc.

Generally we only do short journeys, so I'm wondering what year Land Rover introduced the DPF? Would it be when they did the 2011 facelift? Any thoughts or advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Andrew

This is a common worry amongst potential new owners.

Personally I have run 2 DPF equipped FL2s over 5+ years and have not even noticed that I had one, and never worried about it.

Only advice - buy the best, latest, SD4 variant you can afford from a reputable dealer with a good warranty. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

We are low millage / short run users and our SD4 HSE has been fine over the last 2 years. We also tow a caravan with it so every few months it gets a good workout. 2007 TD4 XS The work horse that earns its up keep
2013 SD4 HSE The posh one for towing the caravan
1973 Triumph Stag I bought in 2009 and restored.
