You shouldn’t smell fuel in the cabin even with the steering grommet displaced. There have been cases of injectors or the fuel rail leaking leading to fuel in the cam cover area. I’d have the plastic cover off and have a look around the engine bay for leaking fuel. |

checked injectors no signs of any diesel or leaks etc thanx for advise |

If I were you and you're still intent on using it, I'd be carrying a fire extinguisher until you get it sorted .....
