The technician probably told the salesman to sell it on as quickly as possible - ideally to someone who knows little about Fl2s.

All Freelanders (mk 1 or 2 ) handle better than a Discovery ! ( I've had 3 Discos; 200, 300 and TD5 and 6 Freelanders). Jules

Today I tested another FL2 and it drove as expected with none of the feeling that the body roll was uncontrolled.
I was right to question the on road behaviour of this particular car and leave it in the dealer's forecourt.

Thanks for all the replies and while the FL2 is a very worthy car, I've decided not to buy one, even one that handles properly.

I will try another FL2 as soon as I can find a suitable one a bit closer to home.

Yesterday's test drive was at the end of a 350 mile trip in the D1; followed by another 350 miles back to home.
I will not be doing that again!

Ouch, that must have been annoying!

Good luck in your search Thumbs Up

Yes you were right not to believe the salesman. Sorry to hear you're giving up on the FL2. Maybe another Discovery then? I really liked our TD5 and only got rid of it when we sold the caravan. I regret doing that now as it was really useful and I'd waxoyled the body and chassis. It's probably still running as its still taxed - not bad for a "unreliable" old landrover. Jules
