1. Easiest check is to take off the battery cover to see if a fuse is attached to the positive lead, which means that the heater has been disconnected but not replaced yet.

2. Next option is to press the "PROG" button on the dash and see how long it takes for warm air to come through onto the windscreen on a cold morning.

3. As it is a safety recall LR can't sell any vehicles until the fix has been implemented on the vehicle, so yours should be ok.

4. Lastly, if you are still unsure then check with the dealer you bought it from. Thumbs Up ______________________

Thanks for the info Dave - the 100 fuse was under the battery cover as you described - so I'll be contacting the dealer tomorrow - wonder why nobody told me about this when I got the vehicle on 17 Jan. Maybe there's a letter on the way ? Not sure how this fits in with your point 3

New heater fitted yesterday at James Edwards (Brock) the dealer nearest to Preston. Fitting is currently taking them about 1.5 hours and includes handbrake adjustment. Car got a nice wash as part of the service. I now have warm air on cold mornings for the first time in two months. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Freelander 2 GS Nazca Sand

Noticed the sloppy handbrake on picking up the FL2 after the P014 recall (done on 12-Jan) so I suspected the console between the seats had come out. Yesterday a trip to clients in the wilds of Amersham so on with the Tom Tom and the walkman. Discovered no power to either of the aux power sockets (fortunately the Tom Tom battery died on the way back whilst on the M25 and even I can navigate from there).

This morning phoned LR CRC to ask the question 'does the centre console come out for a P014 recall?' Answer 'No, all from the engine bay side'. Checked the fuse, no problem, metered the sockets, no power. Read this thread and it appears the centre console does come out.

So it seems that:

LR CRC don't know what they are talking about
The dealership can't do the recall without messing something else up

Am awaiting a phone call from the dealership... Andrew

Just had mine fitted today. Car seems clean and no marks inside. Not been cold enough to notice any difference yet. Car left at 9.00 and collected at 12.00 - Taggarts in Glasgow. So far so good and they claim to have identified a fix for the small clonks coming from the offside rear - I wait to see.

Sounds like an easy fix (having had the console out last week). At the rear of the console, behind the right hand audio output, is a multi point connector (coloured gray). This supplied the power to the centre console, including the 12V power outlets. If the multipoint connector is not seated fully and cliped in place there will be no power to the 12V outlets. Its easy to check, let me know if you want to do it yourself and I will post a few pics tomorow of what to do.

Cheers

Chris
