Spoke to the wrapping company, no dice as it's too complicated a shape to get the wrap to fit properly.

So I guess options now are

Repaint
Or
Replace

I'm outwith warranty on the paint now (not quite 4 years old yet), presume I'd get no goodwill from LR if I approached them about it ? The car has always been service at LR so that may count for something ?

Isn't paint 1 year warranty and 10 year corrosion?
I might call into a local wrappers to see what they say, i did ask at a local LR indy who quoted £250 Shocked to paint - last resort would be a mobile chipsaway type company

To replace would mean a full new bumper/ grille then paint and fit - probably be in excess of £600?

Hey Robby

Just a quick update, I went to my local LR dealer about the grill. They don't have a bodyshop on-site so pointed me in the direction of their approved body shop in Bristol. I just popped down there for an opinion on whether the delamination should be covered by the 6 year corrosion warranty. The guy who inspected agreed that it was not caused by a stone-chip (as my paint is flaking in many places) and also asked me about how I wash the car and whether I use TFR or acidic wheel cleaner on the car (which I don't, I use Gyeon snow foam).
So he's taken some pictures and sent them off to the warranty guy for a decision. I also now have the number of LR Customer Services too just in case.

Fingers crossed they agree that it should be covered by the corrosion warranty ! Will update this thread as soon as I hear back.

Cheers
Justin

Edited to add - new grille is 297 and comes primed, with paint on top I reckon you're looking at 400-ish ?

Hi Justin
That sounds promising Thumbs Up would appreciate the update so i can call into my local dealer if it is covered.

So the grille comes separate to the bumper? i thought they were all in 1 unit unless they split the 2 parts then plastic weld the new grille on?

No not yet - the local LR 'approved' bodyshop were prevented from contacting the dealership due to wrongly claimed 'data protection' issues....beggars belief really

I had the same lacquer peeling issue on my Freelander 2 at just over three years old (by 2 months) LR customer relations did not want to know despite exchanging numerous emails and photos showing the problem which is due to the initial paint process so I ended up painting it myself and it now looks how it should have originally.

Hi All,

My Freelander 2 (MY2013) is suffering from delamination on the front grille. Mainly along the bottom with odd patches up the side. I've attached pictures of the problem. Just wondering if it is similar to what everyone else is describing?
I have spoken to the dealership about it and they say that they have never seen anything like it on a Freelander, but unfortunately advise that it is not a paint defect from manufacture and more likely caused by stone chips (I beg to differ due to the scale of it and uniformity, be good to hear your opinions), so no new bumper under warranty Sad They have however kindly offered to respray the grille for me F.O.C, if they ever get back in contact with a date.

Funnily enough the bonnet and boot lettering on my current Ewok were tarnished in exactly the same way. Cheap swap out to black lettering though so nothing like having a grill resprayed.
