Im sure that 3 litre "6" is just fabulous, both in torque and sound.
Im enjoying my 190 SD4, big move up from my Td5's 137, but engine noise not in the same league. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

I’ve never been forced to stoop to BMW ownership, so I’m pleased to say that I wouldn’t know Razz Laughing

My Land Rovers have got me about reliably enough though, with one exception - where LR went completely OTT with their level of support Thumbs Up

^ Something not quite right with the last part of your post Laughing

I think if I was to leave the brand it would be to Jaguar, I looked at BMW along with Volvo before I bought the D5 and couldn’t bring myself to buy BMW and the Volvo dealer was pathetic, only one XC90 in the showroom that I couldn’t view because it was sold and one used one, which I wasn’t offered the keys to, to have a play. Whereas my LR dealer were more keen to retain my custom. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I can only report as I find Thumbs Up

Got to say that the F-Pace is a very nice looking car Very Happy

Maybe everyone needs to try dealing with Ford or Citroen customer services every so often, so that we can all have a common reference point of “Absolute Zero” for comparison purposes! Laughing

"Got to say that the F-Pace is a very nice looking car" But not very reliable, I'm hearing through the grapevine that the guys doing the testing don't like taking them out for long runs because of recurrent electrical faults causing them to have long waits for recovery vehicles. Jules

F-Pace is a fine looking beast and I would have considered it except it was too big for my needs - I heard the early cars had major electrical problems with many people cancelling orders and those that did get the vehicle rejecting them after a month or so due to prolonged faults

I tend not o get a little twitchy around reports including phrases like “I hear” and “I heard”, as they can be really well intentioned, but tend to be the way rumours start. Rumours that people can, perhaps unfairly, make (non) purchasing decisions on.

If you have some links you to first party reports, I’d be interested to read them Thumbs Up

Hi Tigger. I also like the look of the F Face, although not quite rugged enough for my vehicle usage. A skim of the forums does however raise concern over the quality and reliability of new JLR products. No doubt forums tend to gather viewpoints which are often hostile because of individual lemon cars - but the D5 Forum for example is well scary and the F Face one is also not great - a link is https://www.fpaceforums.co.uk/

In contrast, the broad consensus of the Freel2 forum is that we love our cars....... the same could not really be said of the F Face or Disco Sport or D5 ones.....

Well after owning my first FL2 for almost 5 years, I convinced myself, I needed something more powerful, etc., to tow the caravan , & to generally pose around in! So I bought an X5!
Firstly, the run flat tyres are crap, & stupidly expensive to replace! Then I needed a set of winter wheels & tyres, run flats again, which were also crap in the winter!
After 16 months of ownership, & depreciation so vast, I sold it back to a BMW dealer to get rid of it.
I hunted around the Land Rover website to look for another Freelander, & to my surprise, the Freelander i had sold 16 months previously, was up for sale, so I bought it straight back!
It hadn't really depreciated in that time, unlike the X5.
You may stick with the BMW brand, or you may come back to the fold once you realise all the costs associated with running BMW's. Ive owned many BMW's over the years, I still have one now, aswell as my Freelander.
Newer BMW's just don't have the same appeal they once had, & just look like every other rep mobile on the road!

While you’re right there, looking like other LR’s is much less of a problem than it looking like the Junior Sales Rep’s, contract hired, entry level, modern day Vauxhall Chevette equivalent - the 1, 2 or 3 Series! Wink Whistle

Passing a (BMW) showroom recently, out the corner of my eye I saw the unmistakeable shape of a FL2 on the forecourt...It was only the price on the windscreen - £52,998, that made me realise it was probably actually a Range Rover! Smile 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

LR really have gone down the wrong path with their cars. We were in the market for a brand new car to replace the FL2 Sport LE and ended up with a G01 X3. Only the M Sport 20d mind but it is faster, quieter and returns around 47 mpg so far... will be interesting to see if it copes as well in the winter if we get heavy snow again.
