21,000 miles service interval ain’t an issue. The 2 year gap, possibly, but that ain’t my worry that’s up to LR to stand by their service schedule, the chances are my Velar will never be serviced in my ownership. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I was following a Discovery yesterday and whilst pondering how ugly that off-set reg plate is I noticed how small the brake lights are (excluding the centre high level one) in comparison to how big the light clusters are, they are also pushed out right to the extremities rather than being in your face!

A lot of wasted space in the light clusters, but I have noticed it’s true of many brands with LED taillights. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

I saw a new Discovery (D5) reversing towards me today.
I was surprised how small (and weak?) the reversing lights were.
Unless I was looking in the wrong place, they looked like a couple of Christmas fairy leds.

On a broader point I have been disappointed with the range of reversing lights for some time. A few years ago I had to retrace my path backwards up a very narrow lane, after being given some wrong directions. Looking through my rear window I found that I could not see the ground close to the car where it was illuminated. The only way I could see was to open the driver's door and lean out. Modern reversing lights are like modern fog lights mainly fashion items!

PS -- I still have my old Wipac Fog and Spot lights in the loft, -- perhaps I ought to find then.

The reverse lights on the Velar are a lot better than they were on my D5, though still seem high. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

The reversing lights on the Full Fat are useless as well and make reversing on country lanes at night next to impossible.

Thanks for the reminder to do something about it before it’s second winter.
