Didn't bother calling them this year though, as my policy went up by just 60p.

They tried taking the P with me, treated me like a mug. My premium with LV went DOWN £27 this year but that was still £135 more than buying it as a new customer. Based on that, you’re could well be paying 30% more than you would have paid as a new customer. Out of curiosity, did you get a fresh quote from them as a new customer and not just one as an existing mug, sorry, customer? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

My problem is in moving insurance companies because of all the additions I've made to my FL2.
LV have it all detailed and providing the quote is decent and doesn't spiral upwards I'd rather keep it with them.
It just saves all the time & hassle of going through it with each insurance company.
I can't get an online 'comparison site' quote either because of all the additions.

The additions are in the main all LR bits - roof rails/bars, leather interior, tinted windows, rear spoiler, retro fitted sat nav, bigger LR wheels & tyres, Mantec protection plates, towbar etc etc ... there's a heck of a lot to go through!!! FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Ron I suspect no one is going to worry about that list too much. What insurance companies really want to know is that you have not slipped in a V8 and lowered the suspension but being cautious is better than being stung I guess. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

ronp as we use modification friendly insurers for our specialist 4x4 policies these Mods wouldn't be an issue for us. And you can email over a full list which we can attach to your policy to ensure everything is noted. I would advise to check your cover as many mainstream 'standard' insurers will cover a modified vehicle but exclude modifications in a claim, so if there is an accident (let's hope there isn''t one!) then its the market value on a standard FL2 that gets paid out.
Our insurers cover the modifications as well as the car - so if you have a few it would be worth looking into Smile

Have a great day and give us a go at renewal Thumbs Up 01635 874646

Rather than shop (sod) around last year when I bought the car, I simply kept the existing policy with Axa and paid an additional premium. Just had renewal in at £700 Sad so went on to their site to run it through as new customer and been quoted £1400 + Laughing Must remember to get my cheque in the post in the morning Rolling with laughter

Just checking my insurance quotes as renewal due soon.

Dismayed to find LV no longer appearing on price comparison sites Mad

Obviously fed up of having to match these quotes against supplied renewal quote. Have done this for last few years and got reduction. no longer it seems Andy

L.V. Do it again

So having fought LV for the last few years about the % increase and then ended up 2016 14%, then 2017 10% this year they want 5.5% to give a 2018 renewal of £333.36.

Going online LV say it can be done for £276.66. Banging Head Direct Line (wife's TT insured now with them) can do very similar cover for £253.12.

LV its time to tell you to stick your car insurance where the sun does not shine. Shocked FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Just do a compare the market style search and go back with your lowest price, they usually try and match it

Sorry to dig up old thread but I’m with LV and this years quote was £299 and they couldn’t better it, went online ov LV website and got the same policy without a discount for csma and came to £229, they couldn’t match it on the phone

Although mine isn't yet due I went on the comparison sites and direct to Winston Wolfs company just to see what quotes I could be looking at.

in November 2013 I hit a deer on the M42, front bumper and bits were replaced. Which means that this month I no longer have to declare past claims as its over the 5 year mark.

surprisingly my premium goes up by around £40 a year than I if I declared the deer hit and run..... there is no sense to insurance premiums these days

Our daughter has decided she no longer wants her Golf that she just leaves over here because having just bought a flat with her boyfriend in North London, they only have an allocated parking space for one car and as they’ve just bought a new car, they’re sharing that. Anyway, she’s given it to my wife who has no NCD as she’s always been a named driver on our Evoque as well as the Golf. I’ve been given the task of shopping around for insurance for her and best I found with just her on it was just over £300 SDP&C, Fully comp. Thought I’d try adding me on with two claims in the past 5 years - one no-fault claim plus a windscreen. Came out to £270. Not bad so I just went and looked at my policy to get the exact dates of those claims and I found one other windscreen claim in 2014 so I added that. It then came down to £254!! Since when has more claims reduced the quote? I was thinking of making up a few extra claims to get it down further but I thought better of it! Oh, and I also bought it through one of those comparison sites so we should be getting a voucher for £20 of free petrol too so actual cost price of the policy will be £234. Result. like I say - there is no sense to insurance of any kind these days.

I had yet another example yesterday for plumping and drainage insurance with Homeserve.
1st year - £6 introductory Thumbs Up
2nd year - renewal of £95, one phone call and down to £43 Thumbs Up
3rd year (now) - renewal of £154, triple my current premium !! - one phone call down to £48 immediately. Censored

when I asked why they didn't just quote me a renewal of £48 initially the phone muppet responded by saying

''we are a business Sir and we have to make money, if people call in then we give them their actual renewal, all the companies operate this way''

I cancelled !

Wow RogB and Steve D - that's bizarre!

Because of increased insurance premiums at renewal we always look around and see if moving to a different insurer is going to be more financially beneficial to you and then recommend to move you, that's just one benefit of being with a broker. Some price changes are hard to explain and can be confusing when it quotes lower on the drive and garage - we try and check both to make sure you're getting the best rate we can offer... but it's all based on claim statistics and if more cars are stolen from garages or damaged manoeuvring in and out of garages then it can effect the rates for that post codes statistic. (Although I'm not saying blame your neighbours Rolling with laughter )

As a broker we do look around for you so feel free to give us a call at renewal Very Happy

Insurance companies are currently being investigated by the FCA over their differences between new policies and renewals.
