Judging by the distances involved, the road train tanker may have been Lightwater's 'jerrycan'. Rolling with laughter

Sorry this is upsidedown even though turned around in the camera & is the right way up on the phone. There is dust inside the lens & shooting upsidedown is less work in Photoshop! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

So back down to Perth and across the Nullabor? I did a lot of that run back in 2006 in a Subaru Outback. I want to go again now, your pictures are too good. Very Happy PS I killed a couple of tyres too.

It is a very long way here between interesting scenery & we were going to go north & return the same way but come down the east coast. But now it will be back across the Nullabor.

We have driven about 1200 km on these sort of roads, which eventually caused one of the roof rack bolts to break even though we removed the solar panels from the roof & emptied fuel regularly when not on sealed roads to reduce weight up top.

I couldn't agree more, there is a hell of a lot of dull boring nothing in between the spectacular bits of scenery in WA. I think the same applies to inland Queensland. I could easily spend a month in a 400km radius of Alice Springs though. Plenty to see and do there.

We have had 3 punctures, all from screws on our trip. The second 2 we caught early enough because we got TPMS after destroying the first tyre.

It has been interesting seeing just how much the pressure changes around each corner. We had one cold morning of 4C & the pressure dropped from 25 to 23. It has not taken long to know how much air to put in each tyre to get them all the same when I know that they should be the same.

Still running on the original Conticrosscontacts that came with the car.

25 PSI on a rock.

Pumping up the tyres takes a bit longer removing & refitting the monitors but with 2 people we are now very efficient. So much so that leaving Francois Peron NP there was a queue for the 2 air hoses that the NP has installed that we used our own.

A 4wd came to use the "third" air supply as we finished so quickly! 30 seconds per corner for the compressor & about a minute for the monitor removal & replacement. I will upgrade the hoses as the 3 compressors are a bit ahead of the rate I can fill the tyres.

I was a bit nervous getting off Herald Bight beach as the sand was fairly soft & the bottom of the car was on the sand. Planned my escape with the least amount of tight turns & made it out ok. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Time in Perth

Hi Lightwater.
There are a couple of Freelander 2 owners in Perth that would like to meet up if you have the time before heading back East.
Any chance of a get-together?

Is the council tryng to kill business in Fremantle? I thought parking was hopeless in Manly but you can park for 2 hours free, & longer if you have a resident permit. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
