I wonder if it might be appropriate for this to be moved (or copied) to the “Customer Relations” part of the board? These long lead times for repair (and disinterest in all but the newest vehicles) seem to be a very common feature of LR dealerships and harm the brand. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Sounds like it was a split turbo hose, fairly common and an easy fix. A quick shout out on here would have helped find the cause and also perhaps got you the name of a good local garage who could have done the work sooner. Unfortunately long lead times for repairs are however not exclusive to Franchise dealers and most if not all independent garages will have a long waiting list for repairs. This makes it all the more important to try and build a good relationship with your local garage so that you are more than just another customer when the time comes that you need their help. Good luck with your new Skoda! |

Yes I did try a local independent, who said in his experience this could be a can of worms. He is a specialist in these cars and experience has led him to be vary wary.

I'm gobsmacked that you have an extended warranty and they still want to charge you £156 for a diagnostic !

I think I would have been turning up at the dealership, leaving the keys with them and making a big noise until I got a courtesy car Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

If under extended warranty call out LR Assist say that you are afraid to drive it, they will diagnose on your drive and arrange for a hire car and book it into your dealer of choice who will be under pressure to get it sorted. I have even called them out when my windscreen washers packed up as it's illegal to drive without them. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I had the same problem and symptoms as the original poster. Garage couldn't see it for 3 weeks so called out LandRover Assist and the guy diagnosed a split turbo hose, stripped it all out and done a temporary repair to try and see me out until the garage could repair under warranty. It worked for the 3 weeks! Great service and outcome even though the lead time for the two landy garages I tried were both 3 weeks. Got me around until full repair. |
