swop them from front to rear and see if the noise goes/changes. Common sense isn't very common.

I had exactly the same noise and tyres with 4-5 mm wear swopped front to back,noise all gone. |

I've had the diff whine and I've had a whining noise from rear tyres. The diff was more a rumbling sound and I could somehow tell it was from the centre of the car. The tyres I thought were wheel bearings but it went away when I got new tyres. |

Seriously, have you tried earplugs? Great for night time, driving, kipping on the car ferry, flights, etc. I buy them in boxes of 250 from tool hire shops. Throw away after 3 days. |
