Fake wheels?

Want to change my 19” wheels for 18” but don’t want to get stung on eBay,
Are there fake wheels floating around on eBay? Or can I be reasonably sure that Land Rover wheels are in fact Land Rover wheels on eBay? Seen a set on there but a little dubious.

Thoughts

I doubt whether there are many, if any at all, fake LR style alloys but you will find plenty of aftermarket alloys that state they will fit LR.
But some of these aftermarket ones may not be sufficiently load/weight rated so are not recommended

I would just keep looking on here, and on ebay/gumtree etc for a set of genuine LR wheels.

If you search for wheels to fit a Land Rover you could end up with any old rubbish.

If you do some research on genuine LR wheels, (by downloading an old Freelander brochure for example), then search for a paticular style of wheel, then you stand a good chance of getting the genuine article.

Cheers for your advise people. Now got to wait for something decent to turn up on here.

FYI, Evoque wheels also fit the FL2, so that should widen your search.
They have a slightly different ET, so that means they will sit slightly 'more proud' and give a better stance to the FL2.
Also, you should find an abundance of 18's for sale as many owners upgrade to 19's & 20's. FL2 now gone and have a couple of items left for sale:-

Brodit active iPhone holder + Brodit dash clip,
Bluetooth Music Streaming Module.

Yes, Evoque wheels are the best bet. Sometimes they come available complete with new tyres at a reasonable price. DS wheels will also fit but I doubt if there are many available yet. Here's a picture of standard Evoque 18" wheels on my DS:

Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Loads of ‘iffy’ wheels out there, be careful, lots of good stuff, just need to weed them out, the problem with an old car is the parts chain, many will be sold on, especially on eBay, because they’re knackered.
