Could be an earthing problem. I think I have seen this type of post before & it was suggested to put an extra earth strap from battery to somewhere near the starter motor on engine.

Pete, I would check that they fixed the known fault with the wiring connector in the tank, when they replaced the senders. 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

Possible but not seen any other on the forum with such. More likely to be a connection in or on the tank.

OK just started her up an no change. With the fuel sender fault is it normally special functions off followed by the gauge drop? |

Take a look at this thread: “Freelander 2 2012 fuel / balance pump problem?”. There are also other links in it. May help you. Mine was fixed by rewiring the senders in the tank, so not sure where to go next.

If you look at "inventive way to deal with difficult problem" I was show hove to make the ecu think there was a full take. That was back in 2016 car has ran fine to this day. Not a fix but is a easy way to rule out a problem. Ian |

Ian, are you saying that you used this fix, or that your tank problem never recurred after it cured itself?

Interesting idea with the resisters but as I have renewed the senders and crimped the 2 wires between the senders I'm sure that side is ok now. What I'm trying to establish is if there's a fault in another area as I get the special functions off message b4 the gauge drop. Next thing im going to try is unplugging the bcm and testing the resistance at the multiplug back to the sender.
