Just doing my clutch on my 2007 freelander,
Slave cylinder went, 180k on original slave!
Anyways.. ordered another from euro,
Removed box ect fitted new slave, bolted gearbox back together
And tryed to bleed the clutch, clutch bled fairly fast, but the the pedal started sticking, looked underneath the car to see fluid leaking from the slave again! Back to eurocarparts tomorrow to exchange it,
Will keep you posted on how I get on with the second Sachs slave, IV read other forums of bad slaves straight out the box so hopefully I'll drop lucky with the next one

Sounds like Euro have a bad batch so I suspect if you change it again you'll have the same issue. Probably best to ask for a refund and purchase one from somewhere else and hope they have a different batch in stock

Just phoned them and explained what's going on and they've offered to exchange it one last time and I can't have a refund, got to collect it tomorrow, if this doesn't work I haven't got a clue what's going on

From what I recall, you are entitled to a refund and they cannot refuse as the item is not fit for purpose, the fact that it has been fitted should have no bearing on this as you are unable to find it is unfit until after it has been fitted. Check consumer rights act but from what I can see, you are within your rights to expect to be refunded for a faulty part.

Very rare for two to be leaking. Sounds like it’s fully expanding before coming into contact with the clutch fingers. I’d double check you are fitting it correctly and/or the clutch is the correct clutch. You have fitted the clutch, haven’t you? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

It's definitely fitted right, and no I haven't changed the clutch, the clutch was fine until the original slave started leaking

So, THREE consecutive cylinders have leaked and you've not changed the clutch? I thought you had fitted a new clutch kit and just the cylinder was faulty. It might have started leaking due to a faulty clutch - the pressure plate may be faulty allowing the cylinder to move out too far and releasing the fluid. Have a proper look because chances are, whatever made your original cylinder leak, has had the same effect both new cylinders too. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

180K on a clutch and not changing it when you are sat looking at it seems like a missed opportunity. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Hi, the reason I have not changed the clutch is because the biting point was perfect, half way. No vibration through the pedal ect

Still, you’ve gotta ask yourself why three bearings have leaked, one after the other.......

Right fitted the 3rd new slave, clutch bled and held fine, bolted gearbox all back together everything minus the wheel basically, tried the clutch again, stuck at half way, looked underneath, fluid p*ssing out again, it's unreal, never encountered anything like this before, someone I spoke to said I should of replaced the master cylinder on the pedal aswell, has this can pop slave cylinders? All advice appreciated I will have to replace the whole clutch but now I'm worried I'm going to spend £300 on parts and the slave pop again

Can't get my head around why a old master cylinder would pop the new slave cylinder unless a modification had happened to both and had to be fitted in pairs and thats not cropped up before.

I think Steve D is on the money. It over centring due to the clutch being worn so much. When you took the new ones back off had they pushed off a piston retaining clip allowing the centre piston to come out of the bore / past the end seal ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

The slave cylinder is a concentric type which means it looks just like a release bearing not the conventional cylinder type that moves an arm. It now needs further checking as the cylinder failure is a symptom of some other issue.

Thanks for the advice, there's a few posts online about peoples slave cylinders popping whilst bleeding ect,
Some say the master cylinder causes the problems ie pressure not releasing and popping the slaves
And others like you guys say the CSC is extending to much and popping the seals due to worn clutch plate
If anyone else has had similar experiences please let me know what it was, cheers
