wont start

Hi ive moved over from defender side after getting a 2007 freelander gs , Had it 6 months now with no probs but tonight when I came out of work it wont start it turns over ok and sometimes sounds like it s going to nearly start but dosent , ive cracked open pipes on top of injectors and theres diesel coming through , Has any one any idea what could be the problem . many thanks Daz ..

It could easily be the crank position sensor but as YB has said, you need to get the fault codes read. Another good reason for having your own fault code reader or diagnostic kit. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Hi , had it on reader today and it came up as fault p0001 which shows fuel pressure does anyone know what part to change . cheers daz

Hopefully as you have some fuel at the injectors its not a case of the known broken cam shaft problem where it meets the fuel pump. Shocked

You have flow but you need to prove the pressure I guess. Not many would have a test gauge to do this so we need to apply some basic home mechanics.

History - In your six month of ownership have you changed the fuel filter ? I would not rely on paperwork or word of mouth saying it was done at some point in the near past as its obvious that some garages do not change them on a B service as its a pig to do. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Update ,, all sorted .. It was the throttle body that was stuck closed the plastic teeth on the cog had striped of . thanks very much everyone .. cheers daz
