I am looking for a pre DPF Freelander 2 as it will be mainly used for short journeys carting the dog about. They are holding their value well so it is tricky to work out what is a fair price. I'm using a petrol Honda CRV at the moment which I absolutely hate. I can't understand why people rave about them. Reliable yes, nice to drive-absolutely not.

I paid just under £9000 for my 2007 SE in August last year, its very very clean & tidy with full Land Rover service history & all the old MOT's. It only had 38,000 miles on it so I guess thats why it was a bit more money. Very nice car tho I have to say. |

I had a deep intake of breath when I saw the prices now. I bought a 3 year HSE for £16500 cash from a main dealer with 30,000 miles on it. Sold it whilst we were doing our house up and bought a cheap runabout (Honda CRV). I have regretted it ever since. The FL2 is the nicest driving affordable 4x4 you can buy. If I can find a good one I will probably end up using it to commute and just have the one car. Blueboy, has your 2007 been reliable? The upside of low mileage is the drivetrain has very little wear. The downside is it will still need the 10 year service as one of the posts pointed out. |

Now if you do fancy a change & you don’t mind shelling out £500+ on tax every year take a look @ what Range Rover sports are going for. One hell of a car for very little money |

Been doing the 10 years service in stages, just got to have the Haldex serviced now as everything else done. not contacted yet but will probably get Austin Bell (I think it is) to finish that for me, I dont mind travelling there. Only had it since August & apart from the heated windscreen not working when I put it on to clear frost (now replaced under garage warranty) its been absolutely lovely. Its not the tank like my previous Shogun 3.2 SWB but I love it. Very smooth & comfortable, nearly all the toys of an HSE. I had the choice when I bought it between an HSE 2008 at £8000 with 70000 miles but it was a little worn in comparison to the 2007 which was just under £9000. No regrets at all. |

TBH out of those I would go for the one from Witham Garage, in Sport LE spec. Its a rare car so may hold a little more value than normal, comes with the dog guard and boot mat (about £100 saving) and tow pack so seems pre-determined to fit your criteria of a dog carrier |

Cheers for the feedback. I was going to see the Witham Garage car today but it has been sold. Sods law-that will teach me to dither. I really appreciate the advice. |

This is my old one can vouch for it - just been serviced new diff and new transfer box and it ran perfectly. Everything done by Austen at Bell Engineering!
