Bit of an odd one (to me anyway)!

So got into the car this morning & I notice a stream of fluid down the inside middle of the windscreen.

It appears to be coming from inside the plastic trim around the rear view mirror mount & seems to be some sort of clear silicone.

Anyone got any idea what it could be & whether something needs repacing?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Do you have the self dimming rear view mirror, and if so, does it look normal?

An interesting thought YB but nothing that I can see through the screen in there! No space around the trim for anything to crawl through either.

dennij, no I don't have the self dimming mirror. (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Only one thing for it then, you'll have to remove the mirror cowling to see what it is, good luck with that, hope you have some gloves handy Very Happy

turbodi16v, that is what I suspect it is but why it would leak is a bit odd.

Will have to try & find a part number but expect you have to buy the whole sensor, if available!

Cheers,

Took the trim off today for a look & it is coming from the rain sensor gel pad.

The flow has now stopped, so if the rain sensor still works I'll ignore it for now!
