Home > In Car Electronics > Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit Issues, Need Help Urgently!! |

Sorry I can`t help more. I gathered together most of the bits to do a retro fit to an earlier Freelander but ended up sending the s/h steering wheel back as it had a few marks on it and I haven`t managed to get another yet. From memory when I was messing around with the bits that I had I also had the extra plug that did not go anywhere. Fitting to an earlier car has more issues to overcome but I still have the heating module that looks exactly as yours does and has the same plug. |

At least you had the plug!! I am not worried about the plug if it does not do anything great but the horn and wheel not working are an issue. What I don't get is if I put the old r/h switchpack on the horn from both sides works fine!! |

Well this is now driving me crazy. I have spent most of the night reading everything in relation to this and not one thing mentions this plug and not one mentions the horn not working. I have also noticed that the r/h switchpack with the heating switch has extra pins in the larger block but the white plug that goes into it is missing those pins. I am guessing that the newer switchpack is wired differently and those pins have something to do with the horn as if I put the old one in changing nothing else, the horn works.

I assume this will need activating in the CCF, have you done that?

No, I do not have the ability but it is not required according to others that have done it. It appears my theory is correct in that the switchpack loom is different for the heated wheel. I have ordered that now and if that doesn't work I will look at the CCF though do Idea how to do that.... |

Ok, it all works. I can confirm that the extra plug IS required and it was the switchpack wiring harness that was incorrect.

Thanks for this list AjM. About to do this mod myself, having just bought a heated wheel with the switchpacks included, and presumably the wiring harness too that is inside the wheel (thanks to dondiddy for the heads up in the eBay bargain spots thread). But in addition to the parts listed above, do I also need to get hold of the heated clockspring (LR024653)? |

I did have a look on their eBay listings for the other parts and no joy, but I guess that's not to say they haven't got 'em. I'll drop them a note... |
