I just leave my NextBase 512GW camera fitted.

It has a 'park' mode (from its own internal battery) that automatically records 2 mins if car is knocked. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Nextbase 512 GW is the one use and it works fine, but can't say it's any better or worse than whats out there has it the only one I've ever uesd. I must admit I don't ever remove it and yes I would think it would be an easy target for thieves.
PS it sits behind rear view mirror so it's not that obvious unless your looking for it. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the 512GW today in Halfords. It was anouying that the dashcams was next to the radios (must be getting old now!) and the radios was turned up loud so couldn’t really concentrate. Still got home and read about the camera and looks like it’s easy to unmount etc. It’s got some good reviews as well. I think I’ll let Halfords install it as they have an offer on at the moment. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Steve, you can quite easily fit it yourself if you have a search on here, cable up along head lining, down pillar trim, through directly into fuse box behind glove box if you are hardwiring. If using cig. lighter it just comes down pillar under passenger seat and into console socket.

If I managed it anyone can Laughing

Someone will add if I've put anything wrong. Thumbs Up If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I leave mine put as it turns on if the car is bumped into. It could potentially record a hit and run. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

I was going to fit the camera myself. The wiring kit is 20 pounds, but if I pay 30 pounds for fitting the 20 pound wiring kit is included in the price of fitting. So, to me I think it’s worth while letting Halfords fit it. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

Halfords are a bunch of idiots, they couldn't hard wire my dash cam(even though they said they can) and they failed to fit my new battery...

Do not let them anywhere near your car. I appreciate that all Halfords are not the same but our local branch couldn't even replace a brake light in my wife's Smart without lashing it up. I was too busy to do it at the time but ended up having to redo it as they had made such a mess of it.

I don't know which dash cam you bought but the two that I've bought (Thinkware F750 & a Nextbase Duo) come with all the wiring needed in the box. £20 extra? You were done mate. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

The only things you need (if you're hardwiring ) are two piggyback fuse holders for a couple of quid plus a powermagic if you want a safety item for preventing battery drain mate Thumbs Up

ps.I went to Halfords with a lamp went and out comes this very eager lad who proceeded to try and take my headlamp unit out by pulling it forward !! when asked did he know what he was doing he replied " not really but cars are all the same" If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Just reserved a 512GW rear camera from Halfords, which should connect to my Nextbase 512GW front camera.

I have waited several months for these to come on sale. I will let you know how they perform together off the same SD card. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
