Midline to Premium completed - Awseome surround sound

I finally completed my Premium surround upgrade today a project I started 2 yrs back as part of my facelift programme on my 2007 FL2 but never had the time to finish and I must say it is Awesome wiih the 14 speakers and better than I thought it would be. Rolling with laughter
As previous posts you have to tinker with the settings crank up the Sub-Woofer and Base and with 70w per channel it is pretty impressive even on a good FM radio channel. I tried out one of my CD Muse on the supermassive track practically blows you out the car with stong base and the sub-woofer bouncing the tailgate.

This is a great upgrade wish I had done it before

so what next???????? Whistle

I used the IIDTool BT an early xmas present Thumbs Up

Simple to use with Bluetooth to the phone app takes 30 seconds to change and upload the configuration file.

Alright so I installed the extra 5 speakers, changed the amp and had the CCF edited at a local import shop with Autologic and still no sound. I referred them to this thread and they gave me a print out from their tool showing my amp is a "6H52-14C524-DB", when I did in fact buy the DD amp out of a jag off eBay. Just double checked the eBay ad and I also looked at the sticker myself multiple times before installing it and it definitely had DD at the end. My original amp says "6H52-18C808-CD" so the Autologic wasn't getting info about that even though it's not installed.

Guess I'll have to try another amp off eBay.

Had my CCF updated today by an Indie using an Auto logic tool. He hadn't done the audio upgrade before but allowed me to see the process. It was very straightforward, just selected the Premium Sound System option and applied it. Took no more than 2 minutes.

I'm having the same problem a few others have had in that the Premium amp is not detected. If I refit the old amp the audio system works. If I fit the Premium amp it doesn't. The amp is the correct type ending in DD and comes from a Freelander so has the Land Rover markings on it. Any ideas, or has anyone who was having trouble with this part get it sorted?

Looks like we're in the same boat! I ordered a second DD amp off eBay and the radio still wouldn't turn on so I plugged in my original amp and to my surprise it worked! I was also fairly certain the shop edited the CCF properly so I'm not sure what's going on. I'm leaving the back of the vehicle dis-assembled so when I take it back to the shop next week they can play around with the amps to make sure it works properly. At least I have an 11 speaker setup now (since the L/R dash speakers don't need the surround amp), although I can't say I notice a huge difference.

I've had the panels off numerous times for sound proofing & air line plumbing & broke most of the clips to varying degrees. I have had creaks & groans from this area. Since replacing all the clips the area has been quiet. Stuartc kindly gave me the part number for the particular clip as it is hard to find. They come in a bag of 25 so worthwhile having some spares. I have 2 bags.

Boot liners clips 7 per side & tail gate liner 6 clips: LR006101

I only have the mid range hi-fi, it sounds more mellow now with all the sound proofing, it's a nice sound, I really like it. At the same time far less noise from outside the car so you don't need to turn the volume up quite as much but having said that the car swallows the sound to some degree.

At the time I only had 12mm acoustic foam & that is behind the subwoofer. Not that I turn up the volume here but I would only stick some 6mm behind it so it is not touching the plastic box underneath.

You do need to put sound proofing in the front of the car or the car's own background noise is out of balance. If you only do the boot area the front will some how seem louder & the car's underlying sound doesn't sound right.

I think with your premium hi-fi & the adjustments you are able to make the quiality of sound will be a new bench mark for the Freelander. Some more acoustic foam has just turned up so some more improvements on the way! https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic33026.html Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Thanks for posting the part # for those plastic clips, that's a god send! I have broken probably half of them taking the passenger rear boot cover off twice now to get at the amp, and some of the ones when installing the rear pillar speakers.

Adding more soundproofing was never something I thought of before, but now that you bring it up sounds like a fantastic idea.
