We have a 13 reg Up (High Up spec). Cracking little car. Lovely interior at that spec level and very economical. Not got the engine for much overtaking but for what it's for, city driving, it can fit into any space.

Had a Seat Ibiza 1.4L 1995 for 18 years 250,000 km, my mechanic wanted it when I got the Freelander, don't know if the new ones would last that long without too many problems!

Good to hear, they look like cracking little cars with decent build quality. Definitely on the short list. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

If you didn’t know, the specs overlap. The Skoda is entry level, the top level Skoda over laps into the base Mii, etc. A frugal 3 cylinder engine with great economy. The kids seem to prefer the kudos of the VW, with a very active owners club online. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

Id say the VW is probably the more desireable badge to have on the front but as they are all virtually identical I'll see whats available when we go looking for one at the end of August / start of September. If money isn’t a concern I’d take the UP GTI. Looks like a bit of fun. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |

before you part with hard earned cash check the cost of insurance - for higher risk drivers it can make a massive difference.

As said above find out the insurance and running costs before you commit to any car. Plenty of work for your son to do in preparation for purchasing a car & part of the administration one has to do of owning a car.

Is this the VW that cheated and lied over emissions and started the whole media war against diesels, for which everyone else suffered? How was this badge able to shrug this self inflicted disaster off so quickly? I certainly won’t be buying any of their products for a very long time |
