Alko hitch for genuine Landrover FL2 detachable tow hitch

Recently bought a one previous owner 2013MY FL2 HSE and it was fitted with a detachable/lockable hitch when supplied new.

I need to move different types of caravans and I expect some will be standard tow hitches and some ALKO.

My understanding is that the ALKO tow-ball must not be greased as it compromises the pads inside the hitch, so the obvious thing for me to do would have two types of towball, one for standard hitches and one for ALKO.

Can anyone advise if the LR towbar that is fitted from the factory has two types of removable tow-ball available?

What you need is this .......

With this you can fit a 'conventional' 50mm ball or an 'AL-KO' 50mm ball
that has a shoulder.

The photo of the above adapter sold on eBay this week for only £20

Good Luck in your quest.

Just found it in completed items. Thanks so much for pointing it out as a reference.

Obviously this one is sold but would this model fit my car as it is made by Witter and my FL2 has an original Landrover towbar?

I'm guessing Landrover towbars are made by a towbar manufacturer/s?

A blue paper roll and a tin of brake cleaner would be just as easy. I just clean mine between towing my trailer, standard hitch, and my caravan, alko hitch. Thumbs Up Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

The picture shown is a Witter detachable flange type.
With Witter you buy the bracket, then you buy the tow ball type, so the bracket is vehicle specific, then the tow ball types can be 1) fixed, 2) detachable ball, 3) detachable flange.
I bought a fixed one for the Ewok, then decided that I would like to carry the electric bikes on the back of the vehicle, so bought a detachable flange, so I could carry the bikes and have the caravan on the back. Sold the Ewok with the fixed towball. So I have a detachable flange kit complete with receiver in the garage.

The genuine LR towbar fitted to my FL2 was Thule/Brink. Now sold it on in favour of a Witter fixed flange. (The LR one clonked)

edit: I originally said it was Westfalia/Brink - Aged memory failing me Yawn

England

Genuine Land Rover Towbar was supplied by Thule/Brink and was poor, used three before I binned them. Three bars in two years, replaced with a Westfalia, much better bar, completely different mounting of the detachable. Westfalia used to supply LR with the detachable on the FFRR.
Thule/Brink also supply the detach for the Disco3/4, was subject to a safety recall a couple of years ago. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
