I have a 2008 TD4 HSE. It has a Sat Nav that hasn't ever been updated.

It's my understanding that various software updates have been issued over the years by JLR, as well as map updates, and I'm aware that no more map updates will be issued by JLR.

How much difference did the software updates make? Does one just have to have the latest one? Which was the latest software update?

Yours has the dvd under the driver's seat I am unsure if updated disc's are still available mine is the 2012 disc

I don't know if these companies sell originals or copies or if the discs are really 2017/2018. I bought a set once somewhere, the seller claimed they were 2017 discs but he sent me copies of the original 2014/2015 discs. They are working fine.

For the non DVD Sat Nav Systems, is this what is required? (FL2 2014)

Has anybody tried these updates, and how easy / foolproof are they?

I worded my OP badly!

I'm aware of the map update disks available from a number of suppliers, thank you for the suggested links.

But apart from the maps themselves the software that drives the device gets updated, too. The official JLR disks contained this updated software, but the third party ones don't.

I'm trying to establish how important this software (not the map updates) is.

There was a system software update in 2013 which added a few new functions, this does appear on all the discs even the third party supplied ones (my system was updated this way).

I received an email from one of the on line suppliers last night - they advised that the 2018/19 disc will be available from the end of March, they also pointed out that this will be the last new set of discs to be made available for the DVD system.

Oh! Which supplier was that?

Just received my 2018/2019 DVD update disc (ebay supplier) and all is ok - just replace your existing disc and off you go.

Anyone want a full set of cheap 2012/13 DVDs ?  Cheers,
