I can confirm that the spare on my 3.2 is 17"

And as stated I have the larger braked fitted as standard.

That is a fair point.

Purchased my LR2 new in 2008 and the spare is original.

My LR2 is the 3.2 so the larger brakes are also original.

I've only used the spare as a place holder when rotating the tires and it fit fine on the front. (now I use two jacks for rotating and the spare is resting in the boot)

Note: I didn't check the clearance so I can't comment on how much of a gap was available.

So how much more is your insurance? You have declared it I assume.
