Hi all,

So it appears I may have an issue with the sun roof drain pipe which causes the front near side pillar to get wet during and after a spout of rain. This has also led to a build up of water under the passenger seat as the previous owner had the car sat still and throughout the snow we've recently had, I think it melted and ended up collecting under the seat.

To make things worst, all of the upholstery under and around the seat is sponge/foam backed so has absorbed all of the water meaning the front and rear passenger side of the cars floor upholstery is drenched.

I need to first get rid of the pool of water and then dry out all of the upholstery. The only way I can see of getting to do all of this is to remove the passenger seat and then pull up all of the carpet etc.

Any other, better ideas??

you know what you got to do strip it out let it dry. Drop the roofline fix the drain which is simple should be a good. You can always get a different carpet off eBay. But it work which ever way you look at it

A bit harsh earlier but you will need to dry it out ASAP and if you have other issues you may want to review how much money is worth investing in this particular vehicle.

Life is not always perfect and I was really off being caught by a cowboy builder about 5 years ago. Cut my losses and then employed a roofing guy who worked on English Heritage properties. The roof lining comes out really easy, self explanatory there is a wiring loom up there and lookout for the airbags. Best for two of you. We took about an hour to do it. When you get the lining down you can see where the pipe has come adrift and it is a simple fix, we put tie raps to make sure we did not have to go back. Then a test with a jug of water to make sure when your done. You should see the water come from the bottom of the FL2. We had no instructions just followed our instincts and 3 years on still no problem hopes this helps

Is it just a case of taking off the sun visors and the grab handles and then the plastic trim along the side pillars?

I think I'm more worried about breaking any plastic lugs that keep it held in - had a lot of experience doing that with and old bike of mine! 2018 - 2007 '56 manual HSE Freelander 2
