Dash Cam - Opinions please

Hi all,

I have been looking at dash cams and came across this -

http://www.halfords.com/technology/dash-ca...r-dash-cam

I then began looking around and came across this and others like it on ebay -

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-HD-1080P-Car-...0010.m2109

Has anyone used the latter or know of someone using the latter? I like the idea of dual cams along with a reversing camera.

I have joined the Dash Cam Club.
I have fitted a NextBase 512GW, and am very pleased on how easy it was to do, and to hide the wiring.
I am a bit disappointed that the 'promised' integrated rear view camera has still not appeared although the latest launch date for this accessory is at the end of March.
From first impressions the quality of recordings is excellent. I must now learn not to drop off of the kerb, as it sets off the G sensor. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

I had a Thinkware F800 Pro front and rear, installed couple of weeks ago, and best thing i ever did, as an idiot drove into the side of my car this Monday and wouldn't accept liablilty untill i pointed out i've got dash cameras.

Thinkware are more expensive, but wat you pay is what you get.

Funny thing is, i was after a Next Base as well, but Halfords are rubbish, and said they can fit it, even though i had it booked in and paid for.

I'm more than happy with my Thinkware F770 duel set up,
but I must say the Nextbase looks interesting,
providing it stays put stuck to the mirror and if the viewer can be turned off whilst driving.

Was lucky to get the next base duo as a Christmas pressie, previous owner of my LR had already put the hard wire kit in place, was a simple plug and play for me, very nice and simple to use, been up and running since xmas Smile

Hi, This week I got hold of a dual camera DVR and repackaged it in an old TomTom case. The front camera is on the back of the unit, looking through the wind screen. The second camera is hard wired to the rear tailgate window and acts as a 'Rear View Mirror' for when I am fully loaded up. Both cameras record in separate files.
The unit on the left is a secondary TomTom SatNav, when installed pairs the repackaged DashCam.

My opinion is .... you don't have to spend a lot to get a lot.

Got the Nextbase 512GW and its great Thumbs Up

Now the question for all 512GW owners, If you have hardwired, which two fuses have you used? As there are conflicting reports around on which are best/safest to use.

Am too awaiting rear cam Sad but was talking to a friend last week who has fitted the Nextbase 212. in the back. If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

I’ve been using Pittasoft Blackvue products since 2009. Having tried a variety of others which were quite poor despite advertising claims, the Blackvue range are the best available for the price IMHO. Small & discreet and no ‘novelty value’ screens. Derek Hill

I have the previous version of these https://www.nextbase.co.uk/dash-cams/front-and-rear-hd-dash-cam/

Front and rear in one and the results are pretty good.

I've mounted it behind the LHS of the mirror and the rear camera looks around the end of the mirror. You can't see it when driving. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE

I'm looking at buying a dashcam. I was in Halfords today. I think I'm going to get the Nextbase 512GW. There's a good offer on at the moment in Halfords.

When the dashcam is fitted, do people generally remove them when parked up at work or at the shops etc? I just wondered if the dashcam would be a target for thieves in an unattended car? Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.
