Worked for me the other week when i picked mine up - selling dealer didn't reset it (non LR dealer) so i used this guide then went on the LR site and input the service details with copy of service sheet as proof to keep service history up to date Thumbs Up

I've never been able to reset mine, even using this method. I seem to recall that Mr Lightwater has a similar issue with his Si4.

I just ignore the message. I know it's serviced and I keep the invoices. driving on the right side

After a 3 hour drive this is what I’m averaging the best I have ever seen. Driving conditions were a dual carriageway and some motorway driving.

I tried again, originally I thought it was an April 1 joke so didn't try it for ages.

I have had another go at it. I wrote all the steps down in the correct order. Tried the cycle 1 time, Service Required is still there. locked the car & then had another go doing the cycle twice. Service Required still shows.

Having said that I stopped noticing the warning after a few weeks so it is not an issue anyway & the car gets all the services that are required anyway! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi all

I’ve got a few queries about the actual service process, can anyone offer help please?:

1. I have a full check list of the Land Rover service schedule that lists all items on each service but is there one area that gives the actual instructions for each task listed on the service, rather than going to each individual section of the manual?
Ie Is there a list of action in steps detailing all the filter changes, brake fluid etc all done on a service in one section or do you need to go to the relevant individual sections, eg filter change under engine/ oil, then to the brake section for fluid change? I had a porsche a few years ago and the service instructions were in a separate section of the manual.

2. My car has done 90000 miles and is 2007 so over 10 years old, I’m doing a level B service.
As the car is 10 years old it calls up transmission oil, power transfer oil, rear diff oil and coolant change even though I’m way below the 150k mileage. Would anyone offer any advice on this if it’s worth actually doing when way off the mileage?

3. It also calls up to renew flexible brake hoses every 6 years. My intention is to check them all and only replace if needed, anyone got any comments please?

4. Is there any reason they call up brake fluid change every 3 years? I do understand that it can degrade over time but that seems a bit frequent to me.

Thanks for any advice offered Brgds

Brake fluid takes in moisture, ignore and your ABS will screw up.

Oil costs next to nothing compared to the units Rolling Eyes do it in bite size units over a few weeks.

You left out the most important item. Changing the cam belt by your year and miles.

Inspect the brakes on every service to rule out damage and wear, it’s a good guide at 6 years as they crack overtime.

No matter what you do service wise if you use poor cheap parts and oils your wasting your money. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thanks Bob, makes sense.

I’ve just replaced a full set of discs, pads and shoes so brakes good.
I’ll take your advice on the fluid, I guess bleed through enough fluid to purge each line to each brake at a time?
I’ll buy one of those jars to stop air being sucked back in.

To be honest I got all my brakes from euro car parts Eicher and pagid, hopefully they’ll be ok.

Out of interest do you buy all your service kit from Landrover (filters etc)?

I use Castrol magnatec oil.

The cam belt is listed as 150k, not 10 years or 150k as with the others so did not consider it but obviously an expensive bill if it fails! Any advice on this is appreciated.

Thanks again Brgds

Wrong now as the service interval was changed a short while back to 7 years and a lot less miles.

Magnatec will do older cars but not newer ones with the DPF, they need a C1 oil.

You will find main dealer offers most of the time on a full LR service kit on flea bay (Matford LR).

Do not run to 15,000 miles between oil changes. That was dreamt up for the fleet market. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
