Retrofit - Electric memory seats - Post Face Lift (Complete)

I travel at least 100 miles a work day in the Freel2, and a change in situation means this is about to go up. I find the standard seats in the XS pretty good, but lacking in lumbar support, and seemingly impossible to get back right once the wife has been in them.

Solution, electric memory seats. Recently posted on the 'eBay spotting' section these came from Equicar4x4 who I can strongly recommend and have a wide selection of FL2s (and LR's in general).

The fronts where near immaculate having had seat covers on, there is some gentle wrinkling of the leather, but I suspect a good cleaning and feeding and they will straighten out.

So now I have a confession to make, this retrofit was bolt off bolt on. Turns out my 13MY XS was prewired for electric memory seats. Having spent far too long at Equicar stripping out all the cabling and connectors I needed, i couldn't believe my lock when comparing the donor and original wiring to find same number of cavities populated with the same coloured wires.

To save immobilising the car I did the passenger side first. A handy hint, take the head rests out and put the back of the chair to about 90 deg to the base which makes getting the seat out that bit easier. With the rear of the passenger seat bolted down, it was time for the brave pill, and they worked. Just worked. No fuses or relays to fit. Much the same on the other side

And the memory function seems to work as well, despite the CCF not having been set yet.

Maybe its not needed?

If anyone needs the wiring connectors to retrofit to there own car, I may be able to help, once!

I'll need to give the rears a proper good cleaning before I fit them to the car!

A good days work ......... well done...... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

A real up-grade ...... with a bit of thought going into it.

Better than bolt-on and stick-on modifications, regularly seen on here.

I suspect it will take me longer to figure out how to make easy entry/exit work than it did to feet the seats!

Is it a fair assumption to make that all model year 13 XS models (post facelift) are likely to have the electric seat wiring in place... or is it a lottery?

In most situations the harness is determined by options ordered at build, in Vanny’s instance he had heated manual seats which meant that the electric seat wiring is included in the harness part number for this option.
Similar reason to why some lower spec vehicles have footwell lighting present as Hi-ICE was optioned at build, the footwell wiring is part of the main dash harness for Hi-ICE. MY15

So far i've been incredibly lucky having found wiring for front foot well lighting, electric memory seats, premium sound and i think rear view camera.

Yes i should have just bought a HSE, but i think finding GEN 2.1 infotainment made me too excited to wait . . . I also wish mine wasn't black Sad

Brief update.

While running the cabling for rear screen entertainment, I finished putting the back seats in. They've only had a basic clean so far but look barely touched.

I do notice a significant colour difference, the old seats where definitely black, these are more towards dark grey. Its consistent across the whole surface so clearly by design.

I'm very impressed with the rear seat design, the vertical bit is possibly the simplest removal method I've seen for a long time. Two bolts, flip the lever, out they pop. Seems a little over engineered which is always nice.

For anyone else thinking about this mod, the memory module IS coded to the installation vehicle. Looks like they can be re-coded, but not with the dealer tool. It doesn't seem to cause any problem with operation unless you use the dealer tool to do an on demand self test when it flags a fault.

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Auto Zermatt Silver

Guys, I have a 2008 SE with eletric power seats and I want to upgrade to Memory seats as Mrs drives the car now.

I found a memory module and memory seat switch on ebay which I am planning to buy.

Just a quick clarification, Will my car be pre wired for memory seats as it was in the changing from normal audio to premium audio?

Any help will be apreciated. Idealy I am looking for pictures all over the intrnet to see how the wiring looks like under the Memory seat just to compare.

thank you.

P.S I have IIDtool for programming incase I need to.
