Just to respond to a point made earlier, diesel already contains 5% bio. In Germany they want to increase it to 10% from next year, but now experts are warning that 10% bio will mess up everyones engines and are trying to block it. Its a con, we pay the same duty for a liter, even though 5% is bio fuel. - Mike |

Just thought I'd re-open this debate, having had the experience of running three cars around for about 12 months on proper 100% bio-diesel made from waste veg oil colleced from restaurants. I always check/test each batch before use, to ensure 100% quality and avoid any potential missfueling issues.

Just also learned that the FL2 engine is the same as the one used in the Mitsubishi outlander, citroen 4x4 and Peugeot 4007.

I put about 15 ltrs of Bio in the tank by mistake a few months ago, filled up the rest of the way with normal diesel but also added three full measures of Millers in between. Worked out I had about a 20-25% mix of Bio.

Nothing you do will have the slightest effect on global warming, the world's overpopulated and under resourced, and the vast majority namely US, Russia, China and the 3rd world couldn't give a damn.

You have misunderstood me completely. What I ban, is using cornfields and such for making bio-diesel. That resulted in more expensive corn (more expensive to make tortillas and such), and causing hunger and problems for those less fortunate. THAT IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Taking food out og poor peoples mouth to fill up my tank is simply horrible. And that is what has been done. So with all my heart, I ban bio-diesel! Making bio-diesel from waste is OK, but will never give sufficient fuel, so that is a blind alley. But if you can fill up all the cars in the world with fuel made from waste and garbage, I am all for it. But making bio-diesel from fields initially intended to grow food, -NO WAY! 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack. |
