I presume you are in Dubai. Whatever you source will have been imported. Try local Volvo or Toyota specialists. Both brands use the same gearbox in some models.

In South Africa it is called a Dexron 6 oil.

Not sure about Dexron 6. For models to MY2011 the spec should be T-1V (JWS3309). Later cars T-WS (JWS3324). If those numbers are not on the can, it is not the correct ATF.

That is what the indies here are using.

So far so good - with fresh oil and the Doctor the gearbox is nice and smooth again.

Ok, this is what I see on my Castrol Transmax Dexron VI Mercon LV

bottles:

"....suitable for use in 6 speed automatics from Audi, BMW,...Jaguar, Land Rover, ....."

Do you guys think the spec is right?

It looks as if that Dexron is trying to be a “universal” ATF. Regarding Land Rovers, the Aisin box is only used on the FL2 and it’s derivatives, the Evoque and DS. Not the larger models such as Discoveries and RRs. Here is what Alex Pescaru said (on another thread) on the subject:

“The box uses a slip-controlled lock-up torque converter clutch and the oil quality and proprieties are quite specific.
You can say that this type of autoboxes have an oil type on its own. It is equivalent with Toyota Type IV (T-IV) fluid and only that.
Better use the recommended oil or you risk wearing out the TC clutch quite rapidly.”

Alex seems to know his stuff. Like him, I will stick with a JWS3309 ATF and not touch any “universal” fluids which try to be all things for all boxes.

among those mentioned, will it be fine to mixed with original ESSO JWS3309US inside the existing car? As you know, draining the oil from the transmission will not drain the whole oil

Yes, I assume that you are referring to Toyota T-IV ATF?
Toyota is very popular here

Yes, T-IV ATF (JWS 3309) is correct for your 08 car. See also my post above.

What oil is needed for a 2014 freelander 2 auto box? Got 75k on it now and thinking new oil would be a good idea!

Cheers
