United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

I'll say it again, it is a legit company dealing in after market maps created by third party suppliers, just like the third party suppliers the main dealers use for a while and then abandon when the model is discontinued.
The map discs are offered with a full guarantee too. Derek Hill

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 XS Auto Loire Blue

About 10 years ago I worked for a small company that was located out in the countryside without a postcode. The boss gave me the task of getting one. I eventually discovered that there is an office in Scotland that issues postcodes and after a discussion with them sent them details of where we were and a sketch map etc and they issued a postcode. At the end of the conversation however, the lady said that it could be several years before all of the sat nav companies update their databases and that they don't all use the same mapping data. I don't know what it's like now but certainly 5 years after the code was issued people were still getting lost and I remember a very stroppy phone call from a lady in her "new Jaguar" that couldn't find us and claiming that we didn't exist. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

does it work? Common sense isn't very common.

Even if it does, it looks pretty useless for anyone that needs the UK and most of Europe as that info is on seperate discs

Morning Sid, disc 2 covers UK. haven't risked it myself though Neutral If it wasn't so bad it'd be funny.

Can you post a photo of the version info page in the service menu? To enter the menu see here: http://www.freel2.com/forum/post19929.html#19929, then enter PIN 295660 and press the version button. This should show the real version of the discs. A similar company sold me a set 2016/2017 but they sent me copies of 2014/2015 (the last version Land Rover issued).

Most of the "new" discs are usually about 12 months out of date by the time they become available - according to a couple of websites that sell "updated" discs the last set 2017/2018 was released in March 2017 - from the local roads around home I know that it is about 12 months behind the actual changes.

The Volvo discs do work for mapping, the data is the same as the LR discs, but I found that the voice did not work.

I was just wondering what version it really is. I checked the Land Rover site and there is no 2016/2017 release, 2014/2015 is the latest. I asked HERE (the supplier of the maps) and they also say there is no newer release than 2014/2015 and a newer release is also not planned.

Hi Grumsel Don't supposed when you checked with LR you got a price for the 2014/15 disk? I only got my 07 FL2 the other week and want to update the maps for my sat nav but a bit wary about going to the after market online re sellers especially as there seems to be mixed reviews about them.

Thanks
Tom

A original LR set of 3 DVD's, Western Europe Version 2014/2015 is €209,00 here in the Netherlands, £171.00 in the UK. See here: http://landrover.navigation.com/product-li...erEMEA/GBP

Volvo is charging a lot less and has a later edition. I found a new original set of 4 DVD's (latest edition of 2016) for €129,00. But some people say Volvo discs work correctly in a FL2, some say the maps work but the voice not and others say that the calculated routes are incorrect. I downloaded copies to test but when I write them to a disc they are not recognized, maybe because my DVD writer is not capable enough. If I was sure they would work I would buy them.

Netherlands 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Narvik Black

I purchased the latest navigation dvd (type A) at the above mentioned LatestSatnav store, and I must say it went pretty well. I have a 2007 Freelander 2 HSE i6, so the MMI 2 system. Took a few minutes to recognise and control the disk, after that it went fine.

Usine the PIN 295660 code I think I can see the version is from 2016, not 2017 as the LatestSatnav store claims. Then again for 29,99 pounds I'm happy enough to have updated satnav for my original 2014-2015 disk.

Cheers,
Pieter

After some frustrating sat nav episodes in my 2007 HSE (bizarre route choices -it seems to have an obsession about driving through Winchester...) and what is these days a clunky interface, I reduced my satnav stress levels buying a Garmin Nuvi!

Regular map updates, live traffic updates etc, and BT that can actually communicate with my phone. Thumbs Up

I use OsmAnd+ on my android phone. It cost nothing compared with our outdated inbuilt satnavs. Works off line, inside and outside the car ( I hike and cycle with it ). It saved the day when my daughter's car sat nav failed and I was able to use the map of Victoria, Australia that I had downloaded the day before- cost nothing too.

In car sat nav are very over priced.

My son prefers Waze Jules
