old receivers make excellent BBQ's. Not old modern ones the metal is far too thin.

My pressure vessel get tested for thickness every year by an insurance company engineer. they prefer them sited outside the workshop just incase. keeps the nose down too.

run back to work area with mdpe water pipe, thats good for 10 bars, with a water drain at end of pipe work. At work

Cylinders do fail

ONE OF the largest non-atomic explosions ever experienced in Australia
rocked a liquid petroleum gas storage depot not far from Sydney’s Mascot
International Airport in the early hours of Monday morning. A series of
explosions in the depot, owned by Boral Industries, triggered an enormous
blast in a 60 000-litre gas container, throwing it more than 150 metres
into a nearby canal. The intense heat from the explosions and fires charred
adjacent containers of equal size, but safety valves vented vaporising gas
to burn safely in the atmosphere. Emergency personnel evacuated residents
within a 3-kilometre radius of the depot before the main explosion. The
depot, directly beneath the flight path to Australia’s busiest airport,
was severely damaged but no one was killed or injured because the facility
was deserted at the time.

I saw this in 1990 down at sea level at the other end of Sydney. We went up to the highest hill in our area to see why the sky was orange, then saw the continuing explosions. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

We used to set the oxy torch to a nice flame correct O2/gas blend. Extinguish in a bucket of water. Then fill bin bags full of the gas mix.
take the full bag to a field and ignite with a remote wire and spark. Impressive At work

Tipping the powder out of a whole bunch of bird scaring bangers. Filling a jamjar with the powder burying jamjar in a gravel pile with a longish fuse. Pebble dasjing all the barns round the area.
not me i was the student worker on a farmer watching the seasoned staff on a quiet day.

They later threaded a broomstick through the arms of my overalls and suspended me from the barn rafters. Initiation ceremony. I didnt fall for the long stand and bubble for spirit level requests or sparks for the grinder. Happily a YTS soon started there so I was no longer the lowest rank At work

Can you imagine doing that now with an apprentice.

Yes we had a few fun days. One apprentice gave a very big mechanic some laxative chocolate. Next day said mechanic got the lad and fastened him down and force fed him a full bar. Yes one of those days the crap hit the fan. Laughing

I cut a load of hair of a younger gobby long haired apprentice with my tin snips. He raced up to personnel to complain and they booted him out saying he no doubt deserved it. Rolling Eyes FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
